Graduate Student Writing Support
Graduate students are welcome to use the Research & Writing Center for any project and at all stages of the writing process—researching, planning, drafting, and revising. Students can schedule or drop-in to meet one-on-one with a research or writing consultant for 30- to 60-minute sessions.
- Research consultants can help you navigate databases or find and evaluate sources.
- Writing consultants can help you develop and improve as a writer.
Improving as a Writer
While increased confidence and abilities as a writer is often an assumed outcome of graduate studies, research has shown that development of writing expertise in an academic discipline is a gradual process. The Research & Writing Center can aid in this process by providing a space for students to work on their writing with a thoughtful consultant. In reading carefully and posing specific questions, writing consultants provide an outside perspective on your work that can help you refine and clearly express your ideas.
As with all students, ESL & multilingual students are welcome to drop in or schedule appointments at the RWC at any time. If you are looking for consistent writing support and additional resources, please contact Katie Watkins, firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you are working on a longer writing project and would like to meet with a consultant over several different sessions, please contact Tyler Gardner, email@example.com, to schedule repeating appointments with the same consultant.
